19A Cabin · Portageville, New York

  • 1 full bath
  • Sleeps 5
  • Hot tub + trail access

One day at the cabin

Autumn is the season this cabin was built for.

Early Screened porch

Coffee on the porch, sweater on.

The screened porch is where guests end up first and stay longest. Cold mornings are the good ones out there: steam off the mug, the woods still dripping, and nothing on the schedule yet.

The porch swing is the seat everybody fights over. Bring your own beans, the kitchen has a plain drip maker on purpose.

Mid morning On the trail

You do not drive to the hike.

The Genesee Valley Greenway runs along the back of the property with private access from the yard, so the walk starts at the door. Hikers and bikers get the flat rail-trail miles, and Letchworth proper is a couple of minutes up 19A when you want the gorge.

Peak color in the park runs the first half of October most years. The trails on the west side stay quiet even then, which is the reason to be on this side of the river.

Afternoon Off property

Everything else is minutes away.

Close enough to spend an afternoon at the falls and be back before the fire needs lighting.

  • Letchworth State ParkThe Grand Canyon of the East. Three waterfalls, miles of trail, and in October the gorge walls turn every shade of red there is.
  • Balloons over LetchworthHot air balloons launch from the park on clear mornings. Booking ahead is the only way it works.
  • Main Street, PerryFarmers market on Saturday mornings, and the squash and cider end of the season is the good end. The Main Street Association bills the town as curiously hip and they are not wrong.
  • Mount MorrisAntiquing, a short drive north, for the afternoon when nobody wants another trail.
  • Genesee Valley GreenwayA rail trail that runs the length of the valley. Flat, quiet, and good for bikes as well as boots.

Evening The fireplace

Then the fire goes on.

Salvaged beams, an open-concept living space and a fireplace that does the heavy lifting once the sun goes down. Cook in the stocked kitchen or order a charcuterie board ahead and have it waiting.

Firewood can be pre-ordered and stacked before you arrive. Bring local wood or let us handle it.

After dark Hot tub

The hot tub is the whole argument.

It sits out under the trees, which in October means you are in hot water watching leaves come down. Hammocks are strung in the trees out back for the afternoon version.

Dogs are welcome here, and past guests keep mentioning the water bowl and dog bed waiting by the door.

Rustic on the outside. Nothing rustic about the bed.

From people who stayed

The porch and the hot tub come up every time.

Cabin 19-A was one of our greatest getaways, the amenities and little extras made this place so welcoming. From entering the cabin the first time it felt welcoming with the fireplace lighting the interior, to the bowl of cold water for our dog beside the waiting dog bed. Our first stay with Dell Collective but will not be our last.

Russell

Cabin 19A exceeded our expectations. The design and decor is truly unmatched. Everything felt luxurious, I didn’t feel like I was staying at a “rental”. The porch was the star of the show, laying on the porch swing, reading a book, while hearing nature behind you. It doesn’t get any better.

Jillian

The 19A Cabin is both rustic and sleek in a way only Dell Collective can pull off! There’s a hot tub under the stars and hammocks in the trees out back! Hikers and bikers will love the Genesee Valley Greenway State Park trail access literally in the backyard. Dell Collective does it right.

Before you book

The practical part.

Is there really a hot tub?

Yes, outdoors under the trees, and it is the single most mentioned thing in the reviews. The Silver Lake Haus does not have one, so if the hot tub is the point, book here.

Can we bring the dog?

Yes. The cabin is the dog-friendly property, and pet rates vary by stay, so mention the dog when you book.

How far is Letchworth State Park?

Minutes. The 19A entrance on the west side of the park is up the road, and the Genesee Valley Greenway is accessible from the back of the property.

When does the color actually peak?

Early to mid October in a normal year, though it moves with the weather. Weekends in the color window book first, so pick your dates before the forecast makes the decision for you.

What does it cost?

Rates move with the date, the season, the day of the week and your guest count, so the booking page is the only honest answer. Cleaning fees apply.

When can we check in?

Check in is 3pm and check out is 10am, same as every Dell Collective property. Check in and check out are self-serve unless you ask otherwise, and detailed instructions land in your email at 11am on arrival day.

What are the house policies?

Full details live on the policies page, including cancellation terms.
