From Amanda
Currently: choosing things for Main Street, watching the leaves turn, and planning Halloween with cows.
There’s a lot going on around Dell right now, and somehow it feels like all of our favorite parts of the year are happening at once. The gardens are still giving, the animals are soaking up these long sunny days, and we’re outside every minute we can be before the season turns.
Main Street is in the thick of construction. Lots of moving pieces, lots of choices, and something happening behind the scenes every single day.
And fall is coming to Letchworth. People travel from all over the country to see it, and even after watching it year after year, the colors still feel pretty incredible. My favorite way to see them is below.
Then there’s Halloween at the animal barn, one of my favorite nights of the year. Kids in costumes, visiting the animals, seeing a little bit of that Dell animal magic through their eyes. It reminds me just how special this place can feel, especially to a kid.
Lots happening, lots coming, and a really beautiful season ahead.

Come stay · Highbanks at the West Barn
If you’re going to disappear for a fall weekend…
Highbanks would be a pretty good place to do it.
|
|
|
|
Highbanks is our original stay, and still one of our favorites. It has one of the best views of the ridgeline as it turns, with the Highbanks of Letchworth out in the distance.
Roll the big barn doors open and let the fall air in. Put a pot of soup on the six-burner range. Say good morning and good night to the animals right outside.
| The doors | Big barn doors that open the whole room to the fields |
| The kitchen | A six-burner chef’s range, made for soup season |
| The view | The ridgeline and the Highbanks of Letchworth |
| The park | Minutes from the Perry entrance |
| Neighbors | The animals, right outside |

One thing we think you should do this month
Go up in a balloon.
Seeing the gorge from a hot air balloon while the leaves turn is really hard to beat. It makes you see this whole area differently.
Even if you’re local. Especially if you’re local.

Barn Notes · Animal gossip, obviously
Meet Hazel.
The coolest pig you’ll ever boop
|
|
|
|
Hazel, our resident pot-bellied pig, turned five this September.
She was born the same day as a guest’s baby girl, also named Hazel. So that settled that. The two Hazels have even shared a birthday, with cupcakes.
She roams wherever she likes, especially when the pears are in. Ear scratches are appreciated. Belly scratches are the real goal. Get the spot right and she will fall asleep on you.
