“The 100 year old trail”
19A Cabin cozies up to the Greenway Trail with direct access (in 2 directions) on the cabin property near Letchworth State Park. The 100-year-old trail is part of the Genesee Valley Greenway State Park and follows the old Genesee Valley Canal and the Pennsylvania Railroad. I was impressed to learn that it is the oldest long-distance trail in the state of New York. The 90-mile trail connects Rochester to Black Creek in Alleghany County. The terrain varies and makes it a wonderful experience for biking, hiking, horseback riding, cross country skiing, and beyond.
As we adventured along on our bikes, we stopped to enjoy a pause and cast our lines in from the banks of the Genesee River. We were cooled under the lush wooded areas and stood in awe of “The Grand Canyon of the East”. We enjoyed the day soundtracked by bird songs and a kind “hello” from others we encountered on the trail.
We stopped along the way to learn more about the history of the area and felt a deep connection to the land and people who had once stood where we were. The diversity of the trail offers each person a unique experience.
We loved that after a day of riding, hiking, and exploring the surrounding towns we could return to 19A and find ourselves in a space that allowed us to recharge and feel a sense of luxury and balance. You know you are somewhere special when you’re already planning your next visit before the bags are packed to head home. Dell Collective holds our hearts, and each time we stay at one of their stunning properties, we know our adventures will have us on the path back to them again and again.
